Panther Fizz

Bartenders call straight shots of angostura bitters “Panther shots” or “Panther juice,” hence the name of this drink. Although the list of ingredients is a little long, it comes together like any other egg white cocktail. It’s a perfect balance of bitter, sweet, and citrus with a creamy texture.

Yield: 1 cocktail

Ingredients

  • 1.5 oz. gin

  • 0.75 oz. fresh lemon juice

  • 0.75 oz. fresh lime juice

  • 0.75 oz. heavy cream

  • 0.75 oz. Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur*

  • 1 egg white (from a large egg)**

  • 1 oz. angostura bitters

  • Club soda

  • Hawthorne strainer

  • Fine mesh strainer

  • Shaker

Instructions

Combine the gin, lemon juice, lime juice, heavy cream, Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur, and egg white in a shaker. Dry shake for about 1 minute.

Add ice to the shaker and shake until the tin is very cold (about 30 seconds to 1 minute). Double strain the cocktail through the Hawthorne strainer and fine mesh strainer into a Collins glass or large cocktail glass.

Position a bar spoon over the top of the glass, slowly pour the angostura bitters over the spoon and into the glass to layer the angostura on the top of the cocktail. Top with club soda, so that the frothy top just comes above the rim of the glass.

Notes

*Feel free to substitute in simple syrup if you don’t have Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur on hand.
